Behavioural intervention is an approach used to decrease negative and aggressive behaviours in children with developmental delays, speech and language delays, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Autism Spectrum Disorders and other mental health issues. Our experts are well-equipped to help children who struggle with disruptive or aggressive behaviour, screaming, tantrums, and those who are a flight risk.

Our behavioural intervention program begins by collecting data from all environments (home, child care, and school). This enables us to track behaviours using various easy, reader-friendly data collection methods. The information collected through this process is used to assess the child and determine the reasons for the behaviour. Based on the outcome from the data collected an action plan is developed to decrease the negative behaviours and increase positive. Reinforcing positive behaviour increases a child’s self-esteem which can be an effective deterrent to negative actions. We provide parents and educators the tools to continue the positive reinforcement, and provide them the confidence to deal with the child consistently over time.

Do you think your child could benefit from behavioural intervention? Talk to us. We will help you determine the approach that is right for your situation.

It is our pleasure to have Jennifer from Stepping Stones Child and Family Services providing behavioural intervention, case coordination and consultation services for our son Melbin. Melbin was diagnosed with autism at age four and was unable to communicate with us. We are very happy to work with Jennifer, and with her dedication to helping Melbin, he has made tremendous improvements. He can now communicate by pointing to pictures, do a variety of puzzles, and his eye contact is improving. We are truly blessed to have Stepping Stones Child and Family Services as a resource and will continue to work with them as long as we can.
